iRiver shrinks the Media Player: Entertainment Centre in Nutshell Format
Logo: iRiver

It might not actually be able to entirely fit inside a nutshell, but the L-player from iRiver is quite close as the picture demonstrates. An explanation: the tiny black speck in the middle of the hand is iRiver’s newest technical gadget, after the S1 Mickey MP3 player, that calls itself a bold entertainment centre and is now available in Europe. The tiny device measures only 60 x 43 mm and also weighs 41.2 grams.

The L-player manages to display videos on the relatively large 2 inch screen in MPEG4, WMV 9, and XviD formats. The little one also supports the MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC, and ASF audio formats, as well as various picture formats, including JPEG, GIF, and BMP. There was also somehow enough room for a microphone and a radio too. But because there wasn’t room for keys, and 2 inches are probably to small for a touch screen, the L-player is controlled by clicking on its edges. The Li-polymer battery suffices for up to 4 hours of video and 20 hours of musical playback.

The L-player is immediately available with memory capacities of 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB, for prices of around £85, £100, £115.
